  • Farewell Letter from Amanda Shelley

    Amanda Shelley

    Hello PAVMT members!

As my term as president of PAVMT comes to a close I’d like to offer my most heartfelt thanks to all of you for supporting us over the last years. With your support we have been able to offer educational opportunities to practicing PAs and PA students alike, help PAs start their own telemedicine companies, connect PAs with employers, and represent PAs in discussions with legislators.

As our colleague, Sarah Purdy, steps in as president and the next Board takes the lead please know that, much like Desmond Watt before me, I will continue to work diligently on behalf of PAs in the telemedicine space and more broadly for the profession as a whole. I will continue to serve as HOD representative for PAVMT as we move forward with a new name and strive for more modern practice laws. Also, in connection with my own special interest in legislation and government, I have been appointed to a two-year term on AAPA’s Commission on Government Relations & Practice Advancement. Finally, I have joined with my own state organization’s legislative committee to try to help the drive for OTP forward here at home.

The future for PAs wanting to work in telemedicine has never been brighter. But we must continue to push forward to ensure that the PA profession is not left out of conversations around barriers, legislation and the like. I encourage each of you to get involved wherever you can. Whether it be via donations of your time, financial donations to groups like PAVMT or your state and national PACs, or even just being engaged and vocal advocates for the profession amongst colleagues, it’s important for each of us to take some ownership for the future of the PA profession.

    In solidarity and with gratitude,

    Amanda Shelley, MPAS, PA-C
    Immediate Past President and Co-Founder,
PAs in Virtual Medicine and Telemedicine
