Clinical Considerations in Behavioral Health Treatment in the Age of AI Chatbots

Please join us on Friday, September 18, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. (PT) for our TeleBehavioral Health CME/CEU-accredited 2026 series presentation.

    Overview

Digital technologies have been integrated into behavioral health care since the onset of the PalmPilot in the mid-1990s. With the rise of smartphones and, more recently, AI chatbots powered by large language models, interest in using technology to expand access to behavioral health care has grown. In this talk, Dr. Kuczynski will discuss the evolution of AI chatbots in mental health care, lessons learned from several decades of digital mental health research and practice, and emerging research that can help guide the safe, effective, and ethical use of these technologies in behavioral health care.
