    Overview:

    In this session, Dr. Kate Comtois reviews how clinicians using telebehavioral health can assess suicide risk and offers further techniques on telebehavioral health risk assessment and management.

    Kate Comtois, PhD

    Dr. Comtois is a clinical psychologist at the UWMC Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, Professor at the UW Department of Psychiatry, and a researcher who has been working with suicidal and highly emotionally distressed patients for more than 30 years. In addition to providing clinical work herself, she is a trainer and director of the Suicide Care Research Center (SCRC) and the Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery (CSPAR), whose goals are to improve support for staff as well as suicidal patients

    and their families.

    Objectives

    1. Appreciate methods to assess suicide risk over telehealth.
    2. Describe how to prepare to care for high-risk patients over telehealth.
    3. Describe how to implement safety plans for high-risk patients over telehealth.
