    TeleBehavioral Health with Youth & Families: Best Ethical Practices

    NRTRC and Harborview Behavioral Health Institute are pleased to continue to offer the TeleBehavioral Health Training Series in 2025.

    Please join us on Friday, July 18, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. (PT) for our next TeleBehavioral Health CME/NASW/CEU-accredited 2025 series presentation.

    Overview:

    This session will explore the rationale for providing telebehavioral health services to children, outline key competencies for working with children and families in a virtual setting, and highlight ethical best practices to ensure effective and responsible care.

    Eve-Lynn Nelson, PhD

    Eve-Lynn Nelson, PhD, LP, FATA, is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Kansas, and Executive Director of Telehealth ROCKS and Heartland Telehealth Resource Center. She began at KU Medical Center after completing a pediatric psychology internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and graduating from the clinical psychology program at the University of Kansas. Dr. Nelson pioneered school-based telebehavioral health from 1999 to present, and she is an expert in child telebehavioral health. Her team’s multi-state Telehealth ROCKS/KanAWARE initiative extends behavioral health best practices and social services supports to set all students up for success in the classroom and in life. She is proud to lead Heartland Telehealth Resource Center and support the dissemination of telehealth best practices. She has had the privilege to provide telepsychology services for over 25 years and energize the next generation of healthcare providers and researchers to partner with communities and

    leverage technologies to solve problems together.

    Objectives

    1. Review the rationale for child telebehavioral health
    2. Discuss competencies associated with telebehavioral health with children and families
    3. Describe how to implement safety plans for high-risk patients over telehealth
