    Proponents Expect Telehealth Flexibilities to be Extended Again (Source: TechTarget) Telehealth flexibilities slated to expire on Sept. 30, 2025, will likely be extended again, though it is unclear how long. That's according to members of the American Telemedicine Association's advocacy arm, ATA Action. ATA Action members met with more than 40 U.S. representatives, senators and senior legislative staffers during the association's Hill Day event on June 11 to advocate for permanent access to telehealth and digital health tools.

    Transforming Healthcare: The Impact of Telehealth and Telemedicine (Source: Mayo Clinic Press) Have you ever participated in a telehealth appointment? The number of people choosing telehealth rather than face-to-face medical care has been increasing within the last several years. For many, it’s the convenience of staying at home that makes telehealth appealing, however, according to Paul Cerrato, M.A., and John D. Halamka, M.D., M.S., there are actual health benefits to telehealth and telemedicine practices.     OIG Green Lights MSO Model Arrangement for Telehealth Platforms in New Advisory Opinion (Source: National Law Review) On June 11, 2025, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) published Advisory Opinion 25-03 (the Advisory Opinion), in which OIG approved of a proposed arrangement under which a management support organization and a physician-owned professional corporation (the Requestors) would enter into an arrangement involving the leasing of clinical employees and provision of certain administrative service.

    TeleBehavioral Health 101 Recently Updated! The TeleBehavioral Health 101 Series, developed by the Northwest Regional Telehealth Resource Center (NRTRC), is a fundamental guide to providing high-quality behavioral health care through telemedicine. This CME-accredited 7-part series is designed for providers new to telebehavioral health or those looking to build a strong foundation in virtual care. Each session explores a core aspect of telebehavioral health and offers practical insights and tools to help you deliver clinically effective, high quality, and equitable mental health care virtually. 

    *For Washington State Providers: “Introduction to TeleBehavioral Health and Policy Overview,” meets the requirements for telehealth training as established by Washington SSB6061, effective January 2021. Completion of a brief quiz is required. 
    Course Module: AI in Digital Health (Created by SCTRC)
    Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing healthcare in big ways! It helps doctors find illnesses, treat patients, and take better care of people. AI can also make hospital work easier and faster. By using smart computers, AI has the potential to help doctors make better choices, save money, and help more people get the care they need. The AI in Digital Health course module, created by the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC), explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital health. It covers AI-driven innovations in healthcare, including diagnostics, personalized medicine, administrative automation, and ethical considerations.
    Using Telehealth Navigators to Promote Digital Health (Created by HTRC)
    The Heartland Telehealth Resource Center (HTRC) recently hosted a webinar, “Using Telehealth Navigators to Promote Digital Health”, with Dr. Bradley Anderson, DO, MHA, Medical Director of Virtual Care & Jared Droze, MHA, Executive Director of Virtual Care, Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences.  

    This session focused on how OSU Virtual Care has improved healthcare for rural Oklahomans by prioritizing digital health, expanding access to virtual care, and fostering collaboration across institutions. The webinar explored how OSU Virtual Care's telehealth navigators empower individuals with the tools and knowledge to access services, while expanding virtual care offerings in rural locations like hospitals and clinics. By partnering with universities and healthcare organizations, OSU Virtual Care aims to share best practices and optimize telehealth solutions to improve healthcare outcomes across the region.
