    Join us for the FREE 2026 Behavioral Health Virtual Summit - Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Behavioral Health: Promise, Practice and Responsibility

    In partnership with the University of Washington Behavioral Health Institute, the NRTRC is bringing together national experts, clinicians, policy stakeholders, and thought leaders to examine how AI is shaping behavioral health practice today and how providers can engage with these tools safely, ethically, and effectively.

    We are excited to highlight three featured speakers who will bring cutting-edge insights on clinical practice, ethics and implementation.

    Jonathan H. Chen, MD, PhD

    Associate Professor, Stanford Division of Computational Medicine



    Dr. Chen leads a clinical informatics research group focused on combining human and artificial intelligence to improve care delivery. His work centers on using collective clinical experience and AI systems to enhance decision-making and expand access to high-quality care. With over 100 research publications and real-world clinical practice experience, he is helping redefine how the healthcare workforce integrates intelligent systems safely and effectively.

    Christy Armstrong, PhD

    Connected Health Implementation Lead, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs



    Dr. Armstrong is a national leader in advancing digital health adoption across the VA healthcare system. She leads initiatives such as ambient AI scribe, Virtual Health Resource Centers, and Virtual Care University, driving digital literacy and large-scale implementation of virtual care. Previously, she led the Connected Health Education and Training Program at the Department of Defense and continues to contribute to the field as an associate editor and ethics committee member.

    Ethical AI by Design: Frameworks for Responsible Innovation in Health Technology

    Marlynn Wei, MD, JD

    Award-winning Harvard and Yale-trained integrative psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and expert in Al and mental health


    Dr. Wei works at the intersection of AI, mental health, and ethics. Her work explores emerging challenges such as AI-mediated therapy, AI-associated delusions, and digital immortality. She has testified before the U.S. Congress on the risks and benefits of AI chatbots and regularly writes on these topics for Psychology Today. Based in New York City, she maintains a psychotherapy practice and publishes a newsletter focused on AI and mental health.
